Photo Contest Rules
Terms:
The theme of this year’s AFN Annual Convention is Our Children – Our Future Ancestors. Please help us kickstart the planning effort by sharing photographs that encapsulate what Our Future Ancestors mean to you.
The contest begins on August 1, 2024, and ends on September 3, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. (AKDT).
Who can enter:
Alaskan photographers, who reside in state, and who are 18 years old or older may submit their pictures. By submitting a photograph, each entrant agrees to the rules of the Contest (see Rules and Releases below). AFN employees, contractors, board members, and any immediate family members of those previously named are ineligible to enter.
How to Enter?
Please use the forms below. All of the forms may be e-signed. Please be sure to include:
- Photograph submission (limit 3 total).
- Photo Entry Form for each photo submission.

Photographs must be submitted in .jpeg, .jpg, or .gif format, edited for web in sRGB color space, at least 2,000 pixels wide and no larger than 10 MB. Mobile photographs are exempt from this size requirement but must be submitted at their highest resolution upon request. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. You must complete a separate Photo Entry Form for each photo submitted.
How Will Photographs be Judged?
Photo entries will be judged based on creativity, quality, originality, responsiveness to the prompt, and overall impact in AFN’s sole discretion.
What Are the Prizes?
- First Prize: 2 Roundtrip Alaska Airlines tickets
- Second Prize: $500
- Third Prize: $250
AFN will notify winners via the contact information provided in the Photo Entry Form. AFN reserves the right to disqualify anyone who fails to respond to the notification within 5 business days. Please do not contact us about the status of entries or judging – those inquires will not be answered.
