This serves as notice of two late resolutions that have been submitted for consideration:
- A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE MARINE MAMMAL PROTECTION ACT
- IMMEDIATE EMERGENCY FEDERAL DECLARATION AND ASSISTANCE DUE TO IMPACTS OF TYPHOON HALONG
In 2005, the board of directors of the Alaska Federation of Natives established a policy for introducing resolutions “from the floor” and to give delegates sufficient time to consider resolutions not already printed in the resolutions packet. Robert’s rules of order require 2/3 of the voting delegates to approve the suspension of the rules. The resolutions committee requires that any resolutions introduced during suspension of rules comply with the following:
- Proposed resolutions had to be presented in writing to the resolutions committee no later than 9 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2025; and,
- Copies of proposed resolutions had to be distributed to the delegates no later than 9 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2025; and,
- Resolutions introduced pursuant to the suspension of the rules must be done in accordance with the Roberts rules of order and must have 2/3 vote or unanimous consent of the convention to be introduced.
As such, the resolutions committee was notified, copies of the late resolutions were put out on the delegates’ chairs by 9:00am today, and tomorrow a 2/3 vote of delegates will be required to suspend the rules to accept late resolutions. The motion to suspend the rules will happen at the end of the resolutions on Saturday morning.
