AFN Webinar Video: Update on Congressional Budget Reconciliation

AFN hosted an update on the Congressional Budget Reconciliation on July 8, 2025, as a follow-up to earlier webinars that provided an overview of the Congressional Budget Reconciliation process. This session provided AFN members with a high-level understanding of the provisions, including those related to Alaska, included in the bill. The webinar will cover the current state of reconciliation as of July 8.
In addition, the webinar covered relevant proposals included in the President’s Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Request and provided an update and outlook on the appropriations process.
During this session, we discussed the following:
- Overview of the Senate-passed reconciliation bill – What is in it, including Alaska-specific provisions.
- House action on the Senate-passed bill – Subject to change as the House is currently considering the Senate’s bill.
- Overview of the President’s FY26 Budget Request – What is proposed and why it matters.
- Outlook on the FY26 Appropriations Process – What steps has Congress already taken, what is planned, and what is possible throughout the year?

- Alaska Priorities & Opportunities – Where programs and funding fit into this process and how to engage in the process.
