Comment Period Extended – Protect the Federal Subsistence Board

AFN has strongly advocated for extending the comment period for the Departments of the Interior and Agriculture’s review of the regulations governing the Federal Subsistence Board, which is now set to close on March 30, 2026.

AFN also expresses appreciation to the Alaska Congressional Delegation for their efforts in securing this extension, as well as the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Department of the Interior. For more information, please visit www.nativefederation.org/subsistence-updates.

Tribal and Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) consultation meetings are scheduled for tomorrow, March 10, and Tuesday, March 17. You can view the public inspection notice here.

Currently, the docket has received a total of 430 comments, the majority of which, along with oral comments presented at the Secretaries’ open house meeting on February 3, were opposed to the Safari Club’s petition and expressed support for the Federal Subsistence Board. You can view these comments on the docket here.
