Marya serves as the Government and Regional Affairs Manager for Koniag, the regional Alaska Native corporation for the Kodiak area, where she helps develop relationships with stakeholder organizations and analyzes public policy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in Alaska Native studies from the University of Alaska Anchorage, where she focused on comparative politics and international relations, leading the Model United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Prior to returning to school to finish her degree program, Marya worked in Kodiak promoting cultural education and language revitalization within the Alutiiq community. Marya was born and raised in Kodiak, where much of her family still lives. She is passionate about vibrancy of communities and Alutiiq culture.
