Alaska Resource & Tribal Infrastructure Coordination (ARTIC) Project

The Alaska Resource & Tribal Infrastructure Coordination (ARTIC) Project is an initiative of the Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN), conducted in consultation with the Denali Commission and in collaboration with the Alaska Native Village Corporation Association, Alaska Tribal Administrators Association, Alaska Municipal League, ANCSA Regional Association, Tribes, Alaska Native corporations, and other partners.

The project gathered community perspectives on responsible energy and resource development, infrastructure needs, federal permitting, and opportunities to strengthen coordination among rural Alaska communities, Alaska Native organizations, government agencies, and industry.

Between October 2025 and January 2026, AFN and its partners conducted 11 statewide and regional listening sessions. Community perspectives informed the project’s Listening Sessions Summary Report, Resource and Infrastructure Priorities Framework, Policy Report, and Toolkit. Together, these resources help Alaska Native and rural leaders understand development processes, communicate community priorities, and participate in decisions affecting their communities and lands.
